October 12  Thank God Ahead of Time: The Life and Spirituality of Solanus Casey by Michael H. Crosby

Declared venerable in 1995, Solanus Casey is the first American-born male to be elevated to this position.  This gentle and compassionate Capuchin priest fostered confidence in God's Divine Providence by his faith and service as spiritual counselor and intercessor.

November 9  Hungry Souls-Supernatural Visits, Messages and Warnings from Purgatory by Gerard J.M. Van Den Aardweg

This book focuses on the actual existence of Purgatory, as a place of purification, where the soul's greatest and most intense suffering is the necessary delay before complete union with God.

January  11    Holy Man: Father Damien of Molokai by Gavan Daws

This book reveals the rather obscure life of  Fr. Joseph De Veuster, of the Congregation of the  Sacred Heart Fathers, who worked among the lepers of Hawaii.  He was canonized in 2009.

February  8  The Long Loneliness: The Autobiography of the Legendary Catholic Social Activist by Dorothy Day

This is a chronicle of the journey of Dorothy Day, from a bohemian early life, to conversion, and a new life of social activism through peace, nonviolence, racial justice and the cause of the poor and outcast.

March  8  A Man of the Beatitudes: Pier Giorgio Frassati by Luciana Frassati

Pier (1901-1925) may not have seemed like a typical saint----he smoked cigars, hung out with friends, loved the outdoors,especially mountain climbing. He came from a wealthy family.  What made him different?  He totally gave himself to Christ.  His sister tells his story in this book.

April  12  The Virtue Driven Life by Benedict J. Groeschel

Rediscover virtue as it should be understood in our lives.  Fr. Groeschel reintroduces the 7 virtues of prudence, justice, fortitude, temperance, faith, hope and charity, making them meaningful for today.

May  10  No Turning Back: A Witness to Mercy  by Fr. Donald H. Calloway
